On March 25, Golden Year 5 (2008), on behalf of Supreme Master Ching Hai, our Virginia Association members went to Durham, North Carolina to present the Shining World Compassion Award to Dr. James Eaker, DDS, in recognition of his love and dedication to provide dental care to the homeless. Dr. Eaker has received over US$100,000 in donations with which he has purchased dental equipment to enable him to provide a wider range of care for the homeless at the Rescue Mission. He has also secured the help of a pediatric dentist to treat children with dental problems.

In addition to the Award, Dr. Eaker was also given US$5,000 and a copy of Master’s book The Noble Wilds. Dr. Eaker thanked Supreme Master Ching Hai for the Award and the gifts. He commented that the community is continuously inspired by kindhearted people like the members of our Association and other charitable organizations. Dr. Eaker is an inspirational example of love in action that has helped to uplift our world. May God bless his caring efforts that bring comfort to the lives of the less fortunate!
