Delivering Love and Relief to
Flood Victims
By Johannesburg News Group (Originally in English)

Rich with flora and fauna, Namibia is a country known for its vast deserts in the South Western Africa. This year, due to unusually abundant rainfalls, many parts of its northern region were flooded. Hearing the news, our compassionate Master immediately instructed initiates to help the affected victims. She also generously contributed US$20,000 to assist the relief work. Upon receiving Master’s instruction and learning of the plight faced by the people there, fellow initiates from the Johannesburg Center immediately responded.

On April 28, the initiates flew to Windhoek, the capital city of Namibia and drove to the town of Oshakati in the Oshana Region the next day. On the way, they purchased many relief items such as water purification tablets, blankets, baby formula and soap, etc. At Oshakati, the Namibian government had set up a flood-monitoring team and had the situation mostly under control. They provided the fellow initiates with a list of critical items and kindly advised them to purchase at a wholesale shop. More food and hygiene supplies were bought and delivered to the warehouses set up by the government for weekly distribution. The wholesale manager was so helpful; he donated 600 melamine plates, monitored the deliveries, and gave a generous discount too.

While in Oshakati, the initiates visited two relocation shelters for the victims who lost their home to the flood. Working with the Red Cross and another NGO (Non-Governmental Organization), the initiates quickly distributed the necessary aid to the affected people, who happily accepted the much needed supplies. The children were especially excited to receive sweets.

The mission was truly blessed by Master as everything managed to be accomplished swiftly. Sample booklets, Alternative Living flyers and SOS flyers were also lovingly distributed throughout the trip, in the hope that people will soon choose a better lifestyle to reduce future disasters.
