Disaster Relief in Au Lac (Vietnam)

The damaged homes after the flooding in Quang Binh.

By Au Lac News Group (Originally in Aulacese)

The recent number 2 typhoon brought severe damage to some provinces in the Northern, Central, Western Highland, and Southern regions of Au Lac. With a relief fund of 20,000 USD from Master and over 10,000 USD from fellow initiates within Au Lac and overseas, members of The Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association in Au Lac then quickly visited these heavily affected areas in mid August.

Our Association relief team from the North Au Lac went to two provinces, Ha Tinh and Quang Binh. In Quang Binh, they visited Chau Hoa, Tien Hoa, Duc Hoa and Thach Hoa villages in Tuyen Hoa district and Hoa Thanh village in Minh Hoa district. They talked to the victims to comfort them and distributed relief items to the families that had lost their loved ones, their homes and material possessions. Relief gifts were also given to 450 children. In addition, financial support was contributed to the only elementary school in Hoa Thanh village in Minh Hoa district to purchase 5 set of tables and chairs and 16 ceiling fans for the school as well as help 3 children with disabilities. In Ha Tinh province, the relief team visited 11 villages in Huong Khe district and 2 villages in Duc Linh and Duc Giang, Vu Quang district to distribute the needed relief materials and give monetary gifts to the families.

Rice was given to families in Dak Lak.
Relief items and Master’s photo were given to a local inhabitant in Ha Tinh.

In the Central region, the team reached Ea Yieng village of Krong Pac district and Ea Lop village of Ea Sup district in Dak Lak province, Western Highland. In this area, fellow initiates contributed rice and cash to 405 households who either lost their homes or faced hardships due to the typhoon. They also helped Vi Nhan School for Children with Disabilities and 12 families whose members are blind. Touched by the love from the Association, some families and organizations sent letters of appreciation. The Red Cross in Dak Lak province even recognized our Association as having a ‘golden heart’.

In Quang Ngai village, Cat Tien district, Lam Dong province in the South, the Association distributed 250 relief packets, which included instant noodle, sugar, cooking oil, seasoning, cookies, candies, medicated oil and monetary gifts to the people in four small sections of this village.

As well as doing the relief work, fellow initiates also distributed over 10,000 Alternative Living flyers at the Vietnamese-Cuban Friendship Hospital in Dong Hoi, Quang Binh province; at the Gio Linh and Dong Ha markets, Quang Tri province; and at the Dong Ba market, An Cuu, Hue.

Touched by Master’s timely help, various levels of local governments and the flood victims sincerely conveyed their deepest gratitude to our beloved Master. We hope that Master’s love and blessings will help them to soon overcome these difficulties to continue their life, hopefully with the Alternate Living style, full of love and good health.
