Towards the end of May 2007, many regions of the Sakha Yakutia Republic, a federal subject of Russia, were flooded. Upon receiving Supreme Master Ching Hai’s instruction, fellow initiates from China immediately went to render relief.

The relief team arrived at Vladivostok, where we purchased more than 2,300 warm coats and track suits. We also received over one hundred children’s outfits from fellow initiates around China. In addition, we prepared 5,000 copies of Master’s sample booklet along with the Supreme Master Television and Alternative Living leaflets to give to people. We also arranged for the relief materials to be transported to the affected area. However, there was no direct rail service from Vladivostok to Yakutsk and the goods would have to be transported by truck on the second half of the journey. Because of this and many other problems, few people had faith that we would accomplish our mission. But with Master’s blessing, the materials were shipped out on the evening of July 3, estimated to arrive between July 22 and 25.

July is the holiday season in Russia, so thankfully fellow initiates managed to get on a flight to Yakutsk on the 25th, where we were informed that the relief materials had arrived earlier than expected, and we could start distributing them the next day. Hearing this good news, we were all very touched. Had it not been for Master’s blessing, this would have been almost impossible.

The next day, we traveled for nine hours by car and finally reached the affected area--Ytyk-Kyuyol Village in Tattinsky State. Local officials made accommodation arrangements for us and helped us prepare a working plan. On the day after our arrival, we went to the police station to make the necessary registration arrangements, but they did not believe the reason for our visit and demanded that we leave on the 30th. We again prayed silently to Master. As a result, the local authorities not only permitted us to distribute the relief materials, but even sent two people to help us. When the villagers received the clothes the next day, they were all very happy and expressed sincere gratitude to Master. They said they had never dreamt that there were people who cared so much about them. Some of them wrote letters of appreciation. The happiest ones were the children who seemed to be celebrating as if it was a festival. Many villagers said that they would read the sample books carefully at home.

The local head of government also wrote a letter of appreciation, showing her gratitude to Master. She reminded us to express the thankfulness of the Tattinsky people to Supreme Master Ching Hai. We gave her a photo of Master and conveyed Master’s concern for the victims. The local assistants also liked Master very much, so we gave them Master’s photos and our vests.

We accomplished the relief operation on August 1. So many incredible things - far too many to mention - had happened during this trip. Thanks to Master’s blessing many seemingly impossible tasks were made possible. The local newspapers interviewed us and reported on our work. On behalf of the victims, we extend their gratitude and greetings to Master.
