Constantly caring about the needs of sentient beings, Master instructed fellow initiates to drill wells in Kenya. So far, three wells have been successfully drilled and a fourth is under construction. These compassionate actions have drawn international attention to the drought disaster in Kenya.

Immediately following the well-drilling project, Master contributed US$30,000 to the Kamenge Youth Center in Burundi. By funding this center’s supplementary education program, Master has blessed the lesser-known areas of East Africa with Her infinite love.

Burundi, a country long torn by ethnic conflict, has endured the conditions of civil war since 1993, with violent confrontations occurring between the Hutus and Tutsis. However, with God’s grace and the coordinating efforts of many, flowers of friendship are gradually blossoming among these groups. Internal strife has cooled in recent years and in September Golden Year 3 (2006), the last remaining rebel group signed a ceasefire agreement.

Throughout the civil war, the Kamenge Youth Center dedicated itself to promoting peace and education from its location between the Hutu and Tutsi communities. Founded by three Italian Xaverian missionaries, the center has been funded by an Italian church to provide educational programs and other activities, designed so that Hutu and Tutsi youths learn, play and work together to build a better tomorrow for their generation.

Following a Supreme Master Television report on this youth center’s spirit of unconditional love and selfless efforts, Master specially instructed that a contribution of US$30,000 be made to the center. In order to render Master’s love and aid, fellow initiates paid a visit to the Kamenge Youth Center. Although situated in a remote slum area of the city, the center looked tidy, clean and pleasant. We saw local inhabitants coming to collect sweet corn, medicine, farming tools, and other relief materials.

Upon learning about the purpose of our visit, the person in charge of the Center welcomed us warmly, expressing gratitude to Master, then briefing us on developments at the center. He said that the center was presently offering free courses to 26,000 youth, who can select any course at any time it is offered. Working at the Center were 45 volunteers and 82 half-paid volunteers. Despite being very busy with planning and scheduling full-day courses, they remain in high spirits and are carrying out their work systematically.

The Kamenge Youth Center’s highly commendable spirit and influential efforts in promoting peace left us deeply impressed. We are also grateful to God for giving us this opportunity to convey Master’s love to the Burundi people. We not only realized the meaning of harmony and peace, but also felt that it was a trip of honor.
