A Vegetarian Beauty
Inspires Deeper Values

The golden era has already seen many compassionate souls actively committing themselves to promoting green lifestyles. Miss United Kingdom Universe 2005, Brooke Johnston, is one of those beautiful people who employs her celebrity status in a positive way by making a constant effort to awaken people from the habit of a cruel and unhealthy meat diet.

Brooke has not only been a vegetarian for 12 years, but is also an activist on behalf of animal rights. Recently, Brooke was invited to pose for the latest ad campaign of People For the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). Called “Turn Over a New Leaf: Try Vegetarian,” its aim is to raise awareness and promote change for animal rights and vegetarianism.

Brooke Johnston became a vegetarian at the age of 15 when she found out how animals were treated and brutally killed in factory farms. During the PETA campaign Brooke urged people to give vegetarian food a try, even just for a weekend, so that they could experience the improvement of their health, energy and mood. She remarked that she found it hard to believe that people can feel compassion for an abused child on the news but don’t feel the same for animals that spend their lives mistreated and imprisoned in cages. She encouraged people to do some research about how animals are treated in the factory farms and then think about whether they should contribute to that appalling suffering.

“Vegetarianism is really easy and delicious, and it can make a big change in how you feel about yourself and your energy levels,” says Johnston.
