Food for the Soul and Body
[Busan]
From July 10 to 16, Golden Year 3 (2006), a special exhibition for Master’s
art work was held in Busan. It took place at the most famous Young-gwang
Bookstore, situated in the city’s central district of Seomyun. Also,
on the afternoon of July 15, a two-hour seminar on vegetarianism with
a food tasting session was held.
The Young-gwang Bookstore has a cozy gallery and a small lecture hall that can accommodate up to 140 people. The event was made possible thanks to the generosity of the store manager’s wife, who agreed to provide the venue free of charge.
During this week-long art exhibition, many people came to view Master’s paintings, and a number of visitors attentively watched Master’s lecture DVDs, which played throughout the entire event. Many watched the lecture until the end, after which they asked about the Quan Yin Method. One monk, after watching a lecture, said that he had always wondered about the inner Sound he often experienced and now had finally found the answer. The same monk not only registered for initiation, but also was determined at that moment to change the entire menu of the kitchen he runs into a vegetarian one. This monk’s kitchen provides free meals for 130 elderly and needy people every day.
One couple and their son were deeply impressed by Master’s lecture and immediately went to attend the seminar on vegetarianism. They ended up watching two videos, warmly thanking the initiates for holding this precious event, and stating their intention to register for initiation.
The highlight of the week was the seminar on vegetarianism and the food sampling session that accompanied it. Nearly 100 people came to the seminar.
This exhibition event was particularly successful because a remarkable number of people showed genuine interest in spiritual practice, and many of them said that they planned to visit our Center soon to register for initiation.
Video Seminar in Mungyeong City
[Gyeongbuk]
On June 11, a video seminar along with free vegetarian food sampling
was held in Mungyeong City of Gyeongbuk Province. Fellow sisters and brothers
put a lot of effort into preparing for this event.
Free vegetarian sampling began from early morning at the Mungyeongsaejae Park entrance. Local citizens enjoyed the “vegetarian meats” and gave the Alternative Living message great attention.
The venue for the seminar in Mungyeong Citizen’s Culture Center originally was to be in a small hall with only 60 seats. But much to our surprise, the Culture Center asked us to move to a larger hall. We thank Master for this wonderful arrangement, as 130 guests attended the seminar! This was an unexpectedly large number of people, considering the small size of the city.
After the seminar, all the guests were invited to a special
vegetarian buffet. Touched by this unanticipated loving gesture, people
enjoyed the feast and received a lot of information about the vegetarian
diet.
