Q: Master, is there any difference between the wisdom induced through spiritual practice and the intelligence of scientists? Is a Buddha capable of doing calculus and building spaceships?

M: Why should a Buddha do calculus? We need such gadgets only in the secular world. Let me be candid with you. Many of the scientists in this world are fallen students who failed to graduate in the astral world. Therefore, their knowledge is limited. Where can today’s spaceships go? After we spend so much money on them, they can only travel to the Moon and bring back a handful of rocks for us to look at. But without having to spend a single cent, the Buddhas can go to realms where there are countless jewels, which can be found everywhere just like our rocks here.

The Buddhas can fly faster than the velocity of light and reach the Pure Land in an instant, their speed being so rapid that it cannot be calculated with our worldly mathematics. Even the fastest airplane takes over ten hours to fly from Formosa to the United States, but by employing astral projection it takes perhaps just a few seconds. However, the Buddhas travel even faster. They can go from here to the Pure Land in an instant, and then come back just as quickly. Isn’t that fast? (Applause)

Therefore, we hear that great spiritual practitioners who have attained the Truth such as Shakyamuni Buddha and Quan Yin Bodhisattva have countless transcendental bodies, and are omnipresent and capable of appearing to all those who pray to Them. Suppose I have transcendental bodies. Then while I’m sitting here, if my disciple in the United States thinks of me when in difficulty, my transcendental form reaches him or her immediately even before he/she thinks. Thus, we cannot measure the speed of the Buddhas by using the mathematics of this world.

Besides, the Buddhas can appear in many places simultaneously. For example, they can be here and at the same time in the Pure Land, the United States and Germany. They are present in any place that needs Them; that’s why They are said to be omnipresent. They are faster than light, and more terrific than UFOs! Of all the scientists in this world, who can match those who have attained the Truth? What scientist is capable of inventing a vehicle that travels so quickly? None! Not even the UFOs of the aliens can travel as rapidly as spiritual practitioners who have attained the Truth. Thus, when compared to the wisdom of the Buddhas, the science of this world is really quite primitive.
