Witnessing the Meticulous Love of

a Great Saint

By a resident disciple, Hsihu Formosa

Master has always been very busy, especially in the early years when She had to travel around the world giving lectures and caring for the Aulacese asylum seekers. Even though Her schedule was extremely tight and Her body exhausted, She never neglected the inner yearning of anyone.

In February Golden Year 3 (2006), South Leyte in the central part of the Philippines was devastated by a severe landslide. Greatly concerned about the disaster, Master instructed fellow initiates to conduct relief work in the affected area (please refer to News No.164 for detailed report), and at the same time told us to pay a visit to Mr. Joe Lad Santos, a local reporter in the Philippines. Many years ago, when Master went to the Philippines petitioning for the Aulacese asylum seekers, he was one of the media workers who accompanied Master many times when She went to meet with the Filipino political personages. Although over a decade has passed, Master did not forget Her dear old friend.

Master heard that Mr. Santos wished to make a cartoon project to help create jobs. So this time She especially told us to give him US$25,000 to sponsor this. On March 24, Mr. Santos was both delighted and surprised to receive Master’s contribution. He expressed in an e-mail his sincere gratitude to Master for Her blessing. In June in another e-mail, he mentioned, “The cartoon organizing work is in progress and very active. My group has conducted several development stages. Working on this special group of gifted cartoon talents is not as fast as in other professions like engineering, law, medicine, accounting or any other field of exact science. But I am really happy to report that we are progressing very fast.”

Recently Master also asked about his ideal of creating scholarships for poor students in the Philippines. Learning about Her loving concern, he recalled that it was just in a casual conversation with Master that he mentioned his ideal, also his deep sympathy towards some poor students in society who could not finish their studies due to financial difficulties. He never dreamt that Master still remembered his words after so many years.

On June 12 of this year, Mr. Santos reported to Master about the scholarship. According to him, for each school year in university, full scholarship for three destitute students would require a fund of 890,000 Pesos (approx. US$16,761). Master immediately instructed to remit the money to him and promised to sponsor for at least five years. When Mr. Santos received our loving Master’s contribution on June 15, he told us that Her help came just like the timely rain in drought. It brought hope to these three students, because the deadline for entrance registration this year was on June 23. He further said that the goal of this scholarship project was to help hard striving but destitute students in the Philippines to finish their university studies, thus becoming model citizens and the contributors to the national destitute assistance scheme instead of becoming society burdens.

Master is constantly doing tangible and intangible work to help sentient beings in material and spiritual aspects. Being Her disciples, we may not have the opportunity to participate directly in Her work every time, thus know about what She is doing. However, from the tasks that Master occasionally instructs us to do, we can always perceive Her thoughtfulness and meticulous love towards people.
