Using Wisdom to Share the Good News
of Alternative Living

By Amsterdam News Group (Originally in Dutch)

“When you use your head, you don’t have to use your legs!” This is an old saying we use in the Netherlands, which means that if you use your common sense to do things, you don’t need a lot of physical labor to get it done.

Our fellow practitioners wanted to distribute Alternative Living flyers in our own neighborhoods, as well as reach the people all over the country and in the out-of-the-way places. To do that could be expensive, time-consuming and require a lot of humanpower. So we had to be very calculating in how we distributed the flyers. That’s why we are always looking for ways and opportunities to go to places where people from all over the country are coming. In this way, Master’s flyers also reach the out-of-the-way places without us going to those places ourselves.

One event atttended by people from all over the Netherlands is called the Household Fair, held in the RAI Convention and Exhibition Center. (This is also where Master gave Her lecture when She visited the Netherlands in 1999.) The Household Fair usually lasts about a week, attracting thousands of people who come to see all the new products. So, we went there on the weekend and stood at the entrance to give the Alternative Living flyers to everyone who passed by. At times, when many bus loads of people arrived, it was so crowded that we couldn’t give the flyers out fast enough, and people surrounded us, waiting to receive one.

Another spot that attracts many people is the short-term parking garage at the Schiphol International Airport. Everyone who drops off or picks up a relative, friend or family from the airport has to park there. The two covered levels accommodate several thousand cars, and so behind the windshield wiper of every car we put an Alternative Living flyer. After we were finished, we walked back through the garage. It was amazing to see all the cars with a flyer on the window! We did the same in the parking lot of a big food wholesaler for restaurants, hotels and cafes in Amsterdam.

Also, two of our fellow initiates both have a shop at a beach town called Egmond aan Zee. In springtime and especially during the summer season, the town is overflowing with tourists from the Netherlands and Germany. Every time these fellow practitioners sell a product, they put an Alternative Living flyer inside the bag with it. In this way, the flyer is also spread all over the country.
