Sharing Mother’s Day with Less Fortunate Families

By Los Angeles News Group (Originally in English)

On Saturday, May 13, Golden Year 3 (2006), members of the Los Angeles Center had the opportunity to serve lunch at the Comunidad Cesar Chavez/Triangle House, a transitional living center which is part of the Transitional Housing programs by the LAFH (LA Family Housing).

According to the director, Ms. Kris Freed, this homeless shelter is unique in that they serve many children. The families can stay there for a maximum of four months, during which time the organization assists them in finding jobs to help them regain their independence.

On that day we brought fresh vegetables, vegetarian protein and other ingredients to the Comunidad Cesar Chavez, so that we could cook a hot meal on location for the inhabitants. Our brothers and sisters served the vegetarian lunch that included fried rice, French bread, stew and beverages to approximately 100 shelter inhabitants, many of whom were children. Because the lunch was also on Mother’s Day weekend, each mother was happy to have received a red rose for this special day.

The shelter inhabitants expressed how moved they were and thanked our Association for sharing with them a healthy and nutritious lunch, filled with our beloved Master’s love. As it was a beautiful day, they later suggested that we take a picture with them.
