Master once said that we can celebrate Her birthday by helping those in need. Keeping these precious words in mind, fellow initiates at the Gunma Center celebrate Master’s birthday and the Supreme Master Ching Hai Days by helping the poor or disaster victims, according to the situation at that time.

On Master’s birthday this year, the Gunma initiates rented a public bath for the homeless so they could enjoy the wonderful hot baths that all Japanese love. Apart from this, they prepared clothing, shoes, medicines and backpacks as gifts for these disadvantaged ones, who were also treated to a haircut by a professional hair stylist. Free transportation was offered to those staying in distant places. Vegetarian meal boxes – with the Alternative Living flyer attached – were served with Miso soup, and similar posters were put up in the rest area.

The homeless friends emerged from this rare hot bath with dazzling smiles. While waiting for a haircut, some sipped cold beverages, some enjoyed the vegetarian meal, some read the flyer, and others chatted happily with fellow initiates. Watching them enjoy the delicious food like a child, fellow initiates could not hold back their tears and sent their gratitude to Master from their hearts.

One of them said, “After taking a bath and getting a haircut, my next step is to get an interview and find a job.” Another one said, “What day is it today? What anniversary is it? Why are we receiving such wonderful treatment?” Another female homeless friend said, “It’s been ages since I have been so happy.” An old man wiped his tears and said, “So many good people! I am too touched to eat! God really does exist!”

Everyone praised the tasty vegetarian meal boxes. Some asked for extra ones for themselves or to share with their friends. Several employees of a firm affiliated with the public bath company, who had supported this event, stopped by after work. They enjoyed the vegetarian food, which again earned praises for its deliciousness. Even a passerby came and asked jokingly, “What are you selling? How much is it? What kind of food are you serving?” Fellow initiates answered, “We are selling Love, it’s free, and we are serving Love!” This response brought a sudden burst of laughter. Some of the homeless friends sat quietly soaking in the joyful atmosphere, some talked about their lives, and some forgot their worries and kept joking. The canopy set up in the parking lot where we had the public bath, instantly became a paradise as they opened their hearts to the bliss and happiness.

Cleansed by Master’s divine love, they became pure and beautiful. All seemed to be reborn. Their faces became brighter and their eyes were sparkling. Surprisingly, two of them found jobs that evening and another one the following day. For these disadvantaged friends who have lived without purpose for a long time, this was indeed a great miracle.

Under Master’s perfect arrangement, the Gunma fellow practitioners were at the right place to help set this miracle into motion. Despite having seen numerous miracles, the initiates are still awestruck by the many wonders that continue to occur. Master bestows Her love upon all beings in different ways without wanting anything in return.
