Members of a nationwide vegetarian association repair houses damaged by heavy snowfall.

Recently, welcome guests helped victims of the Jeongeup areas who had experienced serious structural damage to their homes due to the heavy snowfall in December 2005. About 50 members of a nationwide vegetarian association visited the village to repair houses damaged by heavy snow. On January 31st, 2006, the members gathered at Yipyung-myun Office so that they could work until February 3 to serve in repairing 17 damaged farm houses in Jeongeup (including Yipyung, Sannae, and Sanwoe areas) and nearby Gochang-gun areas.

On the first day, they made two teams with about 20 members each, selected three houses of poor people and are now doing repair work. For houses with minimal damage, they plan to just provide comfort items such as rice or vegetarian instant noodles. A representative of the association said, “We prepared this activity to provide some help for our neighbors suffering from the heavy snow.”
