Master's
Exhibition attracted many well-known figures from the arts and various
cultural fields. For example, poet Yang Ping, author of the book Ethereal
Rain on the Empty Mountain, graced the event with his wife and young
son, and recited poetry at a concert that was held on the opening day.
In the eyes of his wife, Mr. Yang is
a spiritual practitioner who is devoted to the cultivation of the mind
and the quest for the original source of being. Though he has studied
the doctrines of various religions, he does not adhere to any particular
creed. His aspiration to seek the original source has motivated him
to follow the path of Zen cultivation.
At the concert, he recited several of
his popular poems including "Through the Long Corridor of Past
Lives," Believe" and "In the Passing Tranquility"
to a Chinese zither accompaniment by a sister initiate. The lyrics,
such as those below from "Believe," were charged with spiritual
beauty and fully displayed the poet's hopes for peace.

          "I have faith in the
            almighty power of Heaven.
We only have to call softly,
            and
It will come, from a flower,
            a cross, a noisy market,
Or the other end of a vague
            history,
          Right into our midst,
          Shyly asking for directions,
          Riding buses, flying by
            plane,
          Tediously transforming
            into billions of bodies,
          Just like a missing green
            bird
          Eventually reappearing
            at a window.
          I have faith
          Even at this moment after
            a century of lamentation,
          When every city is shrouded
            by vicious, filthy smog,
I have faith that our dust-covered
            Self-Nature will send out light.
I have faith that the last
salvation will come from deep within our souls.
